The Cesca Chair has a rare and almost innocuous simplicity in its design: a linearity balanced by subtle curves; a graphic juxtaposition of industrial and natural materials; and a cantilevered form that seems to float in mid-air. In 1928, it was an international sensation. Nothing like it existed at the time, and its iconic form proves contemporary with the passing decades. Originally known as the B32, the chair was later renamed ‘Cesca’ after Marcel Breuer’s daughter Francesca.
