Eames Plastic Chair RE DSX

The understated DSX (Dining Height Side Chair X-Base) has a four-legged tubular steel base and an organically shaped shell made from recycled post-consumer plastic. The seat shell comes in various colors and upholstery options, while the base is available in chrome or powder-coated versions, the latter being ideal for terraces and gardens. As of January 2024, the shells of Vitra’s Eames Plastic Chairs are made from post-consumer recycled plastic. The name of these chairs is Eames Plastic Chairs RE. The recycled material comes from the German household waste collection system “Yellow Bag” (Gelber Sack), which consists primarily of used packaging. The use of this recycled material instead of conventional plastic generates fewer climate-damaging emissions and significantly reduces energy consumption. Due to the composition of the recycled materials, the different colored versions of the casings have small flecks of pigment. Coinciding with this change, three color variants have been updated: Emerald RE replaces green Citron RE replaces sunlight Cotton white RE replaces white In addition to the new “cotton white (RE)” variant, the current “white” version will be available until December 2024.
