Luigi Massoni: Italian functionality with a modern spirit
Born in Milan in 1930, Luigi Massoni studied at the Scuola Politecnica di Design and soon became one of the leading figures in mid-20th-century Italian design. He was actively involved in the founding of ADI (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale) and worked as art director for major brands such as Poltrona Frau and Mobilplast, where he left a lasting mark.
Massoni understood design as a balance between beauty and utility. His creations are characterised by clean lines, durable materials and formal solutions that anticipated many of the needs of contemporary design. He was also a pioneer in incorporating large-scale industrial processes without compromising aesthetic quality.
